The 5,000,000th EcoBoost Engine is Fresh Off The Assembly Line!

This March, Ford had the pleasure of celebrating the production of the five-millionth EcoBoost-equipped vehicle. The team took great pride in this accomplishment, as it highlighted Ford’s efforts to offer fuel-efficient technologies and the continued momentum of the One Ford plan. This milestone took place at the Michigan Assembly Plant in Wayne, Michigan, with the production of a Ford Focus 1.0-litre EcoBoost.

The Story Behind EcoBoost

EcoBoost technology was first offered in 2009, on the Ford Taurus SHO with a 3.5-litre EcoBoost V6 engine. Combining remarkable power and excellent fuel-efficiency, this technology quickly drew customers’ attention.

In 2009, almost 15,000 EcoBoost engines were manufactured. The following year, the number went up to more than 60,000 and today, Ford produces more than 200,000 EcoBoost engines per month! Along with the 1.0-litre three cylinder, the EcoBoost family also includes 1.5-litre, 1.6-litre, 2.0-litre and 2.3-litre four-cylinder engines. EcoBoost V6 engines come in 2.7 and 3.5-litre displacements. This selection is sure to please any customer, regardless of needs.

Award-Winning Technology

Lovers of performance and fuel-efficiency are not the only ones to take notice of EcoBoost engines. In fact, since they were launched, this technology has won a numbers of awards. The 1.0-litre even won the International Engine of the Year award three years in a row, a record no other automaker has achieved.
